No kidding, the first thing we did after arriving at our hotel was to get back into the bus to attend a Christian wedding at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Amman. The pastor there was so excited that our group was coming to Amman that he invited us all to the wedding. Other than not understanding any of the words, it seemed like a pretty typical service. After the service we stood on the terrace and watched the receiving line. All the kids (and there were MANY) were running around and playing in the courtyard. The flower girls were adorable!
We were served coffee and enjoyed a pleasant hour or so before returning to the hotel for a buffet dinner.
The flight over was great. I must have slept for at least 7 hours, because I can only account for 5 or 6 of being awake; when the plane hit the ground I could hardly believe we were already there. Best long-haul flight I've ever had (although the bathrooms left much to be desired by the end of the trip...why is that?).
Tomorrow we cross the bridge into Israel.
